The High Price of Apple’s iPhone 4s Repair
For years Apple haters have joked about the relatively high cost of the company’s products, and with good reason, but it was only recently that I realized the high prices extend even to iPhone 4s repair.
I picked up my iPhone 4s on the release date, and just a day later I managed to do something really stupid. I had the iPhone plugged into my car stereo via the headphone jack, and while I was filling up at the gas station I accidentally knocked it out the door without noticing. When I pulled out of the station the phone dragged along the street for almost a full block, still attached to the headphone cable.
Surprisingly, the phone itself doesn’t seem to have suffered at all, but the screen is a write off. I took it into my local Apple Store and asked for the iPhone 4s repair service, only to be told that the bill would be an astounding $125!
It’s lucky, then, that we’re not limited to Apple’s own repair service. After storming home in disgust I simply searched online for iPhone 4s repair, and in a couple of clicks I found a service that could replace the screen for less than half the cost.
I love you, Apple, but not that much.
